Porcelain from Fukagawa Seiji (深川製磁 株式会社)
Fukagawa Seiji, based in Arita, is a long-established company with over 130 years of history in porcelain production. Renowned for its translucent white porcelain pieces with vibrant blue patterns, Fukagawa places great emphasis on artisanal perfection and artistic design. The company operates a centuries-old workshop where traditional techniques are preserved and passed on to future generations.
By using a traditional “Noborigama” (climbing kiln), Fukagawa remains true to its roots, producing porcelain of unmatched beauty and quality. Their porcelain is fired at around 1350°C, which is 50 to 100°C higher than the typical firing temperature for standard porcelain. Even a difference of just 50 degrees Celsius makes the porcelain more fluid and unstable, significantly increasing both risk and difficulty. During the 13- to 14-hour firing process, craftsmen continuously monitor the color of the flame to maintain the optimal temperature and conditions inside the kiln.
Although Fukagawa Seiji was once even a supplier to the British royal household, the brand has in recent decades only been available on the Japanese market. The Shiki Boutique is the first store outside Japan to offer these rare products once again on the European market.

Vases by SHIN-EMON-GAMA
Since 1972, Shinemon I, born Shinichiro, created large-format ceramics – something highly unusual in Arita at the time. The now-deceased artist focused on the Yohen technique, in which unexpected colors and patterns emerge during firing depending on the chemical composition of the glaze. In the Yusai technique, various glazes such as ruby-red cinnabar and crystal glaze melt together, creating especially beautiful color gradations.
“Brilliance of form, astonishing effect of the glaze” is the credo that is especially reflected in the cinnabar ware. When the copper contained in the glaze encounters a strongly reducing flame in the kiln, a jewel-like color ranging from pale to deep red emerges. This mysterious red can only be achieved through the use of carefully selected ceramic materials and hours of firing at 1300 degrees Celsius.

Shiki Sake Glass by Zalto

Developed with the aim of prioritizing perfect enjoyment while allowing the glass itself to recede through its floating lightness. Uncompromising precision, reduced to the essentials.
