Vase “Mikawa Chiyaki” – Mikawachi-Yaki Hirado Yushou-gama
This elegant porcelain vase is a masterpiece from the traditional Mikawachi-Yaki kiln in Hirado, renowned for its fine works crafted from snow-white porcelain and intricate hand-painting in deep indigo, known as “Gosu.”
The depicted motif features an eagle majestically perched on a pine branch – a symbol of vigilance, strength, and serenity in Japanese iconography. Inspired by classical Chinese paintings, this work reflects the artistic exchange between the two cultures.
Mikawachi-Yaki artworks like this have been cherished by the Japanese Imperial Household for centuries and continue to stand as icons of exceptional craftsmanship and aesthetic perfection.
