Plate “Mikawa Chiyaki” – Mikawachi-Yaki Hirado Yushou-gama
This exquisitely crafted plate originates from the renowned porcelain manufactory Mikawachi-Yaki in Hirado, celebrated for its delicate craftsmanship and imperial elegance. Characteristic of Mikawachi-Yaki is the pure, radiant white porcelain, meticulously hand-painted in deep indigo blue – the traditional “Gosu.”
The central motif features a scene inspired by classical Chinese landscape paintings, reflecting the cultural exchange between Japan and China. Particularly striking is the elaborate “Sukashi-bori” technique – intricate openwork in which fine holes are cut into the porcelain before firing. This gives the rim of the plate an exceptional lightness and decorative depth.
A masterpiece of Japanese porcelain art that embodies tradition, aesthetics, and the highest level of precision.
