The world of sake is as diverse as it is fascinating—and for many, it remains a well-kept secret. With our new masterclass, “Journey Through the World of Sake,” we invite everyone interested to discover this traditional Japanese beverage in all its facets. Whether you are a curious beginner or an experienced sake enthusiast, this tasting offers new insights and plenty of “aha!” moments for everyone.
Seven Sakes – Seven Worlds
Together, we will taste seven exceptional sakes, each remarkably different from the others, showcasing the impressive range of this centuries-old craft:
- TONO DOBUROKU Kimoto – rustic, unfiltered, authentic
- KANKOUBAI Junmai Ginjo “AKI” Owl Label – elegant, crisp, and modern
- TATENOKAWA Seiryu “Stream” – a finely structured sake from Yamagata
- SHICHIDA Junmai 75, Yamada-Nishiki – precise, traditional, and well balanced
- KURA WIEN Sake – locally brewed and inspired by Japanese brewing traditions
- SHICHIHONYARI Yamahai Junmai “KOKOKU” 2014 Limited Edition – aged, complex, and deep
- TSURU-UME Yuzu – a refreshing, aromatic sake liqueur with yuzu citrus
Knowledge That Inspires
Alongside the tasting, we will explore fascinating questions about the world of sake:
- Is sake really “rice wine”—and why is calling it “rice schnapps” a misconception?
- What does the polishing ratio reveal about style, texture, and quality?
- Can sake be made from any variety of rice?
- What aromas can be discovered in different styles?
- Why does sake pair so wonderfully with food?
- And how well can sake actually be stored and aged?
We will explain its origins, production methods, and regional characteristics, while providing insight into the rich traditions and culture behind Japan’s national beverage.

The sake tastings will be accompanied by traditional Japanese snacks carefully selected to complement the individual styles—a culinary experience that rounds off the afternoon.
