Drinking Vessels – Masu, Ochoko, or a Western Wine Glass: From which vessel does sake taste best?
Sake is more than just a drink – it is a complete experience of aroma, texture, and flavor. But how much does the vessel in which it is served actually influence our perception? In this exclusive masterclass, we will explore exactly this question: tasting premium sake from different vessels to discover how aromas, bouquet, and drinking flow change – sometimes subtly, sometimes strikingly, and often surprisingly.
Whether a mouth-blown Zalto glass, a traditional wooden Masu, or the classic Ochoko cups in ceramic and glass – each vessel tells its own story and offers a unique way of experiencing Japan’s national drink. To complement the tasting, typical Japanese sake snacks will be served.
We are delighted that Hikari Saito, Vice Miss Sake 2023, will participate in the masterclass and share her experiences and impressions with us.
On the tasting list are three outstanding sake:
-
Kankoubai Junmai Ginjo Torece
